Default Wanadoo problem - re-install IE ?

I have Wanadoo broadband, but when I connect all seems fine (modem connects ok) but when I click on the Wanadoo icon to access the internet, get a page cannot be displayed page. I think I might have to re-install IE, is there anywhere I can download it free ? Do I have to remove it first (from add/remove progs ?)
Or anyone else know what might be the problem ?

Ro.

IE may not be your problem. It maybe Wanadoo's DNS servers as they are known as being pretty ****. Go to the command prompt (start, run, cmd and enter) and type in

ping www.yahoo.com or any other web address

If your internet is working correctly you should see yahoo translate to an ip address and ping request receipts will be received. If you get an unknown host/DNS response Wanadoo is up the swanny.

You should be able to download IE from Microsofts website if you can get there !!!!!

If Wanadoo's DNS isn't working then pinging www.yahoo.com won't work either.

Try pinging an IP address like the Beeb. I think it's 212.58.224.85. You'll soon see if you get a reply or not.

If you get a reply from the IP address and not the www.bbc.co.uk then it's a DNS problem.

I've suffered with Wanadoo's DNS woes for a while so I program in the DNS servers
195.92.195.94
195.92.195.95
I think these are correct.

Let us know how you get on.

John
