Question Nat question

A mate has just got a US robotics 9106 all in one wireless router dsl modem thingy. He can connect one PC to the internet no problem. When he tries to access it from another PC, the first one loses its connection. This happens every time from 4 diferent PC's, two using cable and two wireless. ANy one can be connected and stable until you access the internet from another one. From my limited memory of routers, it appears that NAT isn't working. I can't find anywhere to change any NAT configuration. Am I right in assuming that NAT is a fairly simple chappie that should work for 4 PC's together if it works for them one at a time?

I am beginning to suspect that the kit is faulty, but i though I would throw it open to the great fountain of knowledge before I start fighting with people in a shop

Use ICS, it's a lot easier to set up

Take it back. A good solution should work out of the box.

ICS or a hardware solution? I'll take a hardeware router every time thanks.

ADSL Guide review says it supports NAT.

Maybe you got a duff one, or it needs a firmware update? I'm sitting here with 2 PCs (one wired, one wireless) and a Sony PS2 all happily connected to my USR9106. Always worked ok for me.

updated the firmware already - took it back this morning as no-one could come up with a solution - got a sitecom replacement, plugged it in, same problem. Spent the day doing "further research" (pissing about with everything) and discovered this program called msams.exe. It was there on Monday, but a search on Google gave no hits. Did a search today again and got 17 million or sumink. Called Maplin to tell them that it seemed to be some sort of virus instead of the router, and the manager told me "We have tested your router and we agree that there is a problem with the NAT protocol. We are sorry for your inconvienence and have posted you £50.00 of vouchers"

Two new questions - Whow do I get rid of this msams sh1te and what toys can I get in Maplin for 50 squid
