Angry Wireless...

Have my PC connected to my broadband by a wireless router (all Belkin) - connection is fine, but just takes ages to load the pages, whereas before without the router it was pretty much instantaneous. Download speeds are the same as before, so why the change? It's starting to get bloody annoying!

Any ideas?

Unhappy

I'd be interested to know how you get on. Had the same problem with a 3COM router which I've now sold on eBay.

I went back to the Speedtouch (non wireless) modem my ISP gave me and it's lightning quick.

Cheers

I can recommend the Netgear DG834G, if you decide to change. Paid £70 for mine and no problems with slow internet access, over wired and wireless connections.

You may be able to upgrade the firmware by downloading from the oem website. This may be a known issue and may have been resolved.

drjsd - I have a Belkin wireless router that works fine. Tell me the exact model and I'll see if I can help. Also, who is your ISP?

Cheers James,

NTL provide the service (amazingly good considering how crap their cable is!) and the router is an F5D7231-4.

Any help much appreciated!

James too! Spooky...

So it's not an ADSL wireless router then but a ethernet router. So there won't be a setting for MTU for a start.

Afraid I can't be much help as thought it would be ADSL. Would recommend a wipe and restart though in case you buggered up any settings. On my router I just hold the reset switch down for 15 seconds or so.

Sorry

James Neil:

I assume you have your modem built in then? Might have been useful to have done as have so many wires, but don't know jack about networking other than it's a pain in the ****!

Thanks anyway!
