as above. i want one which keeps the sound quality as best as possible.

any recommendations guys/gals??

cdex here too "free" being the operative word...
oh and filenames are customisable, and the tracktitle search engine is very powerful indeed!!
not let me down yet.

Form over function I know but my PC would puke if I put anything as ugly as CDex on it.

I use FreeRIP and usually rip at 160 or 192kbps for the best compromise between file size and quality.

I've tried iTunes (on more than one machine) and found it very unstable (crashes all over the place), and it won't make mp3s of some cds (depending on the format / protection on the cd).

I use AudioGrabber these days. No frills, does the job nicely, loads of encoding options, copies cds that iTunes won't, links to freedb, and is free
