I've just found a really odd bug with Mac os X
Although I'm sure they'll call it a 'feature'.
I changed a few icons on my desktop (for folders, network drives, HD etc.) to make things look a little more interesting. Simple, straight forward stuff yeah? Well, now the network drive icon for EVERYONE on our network at work is now what I've set it to. Made me laugh but I've had to set it back to the default.
So, anyone know how I can change the icon for a network drive on my mac WITHOUT it changing what everyone else sees on our network?

.ds_store is your enemy Basically what J said, OS X wrote your icon prefs. to the root directory of the network volume and everyone else's machine read it and obeyed it. A completely dumb idea on Apple's part really.
You'll also find .ds_store files littering and FAT format drives you browse with the Finder, such as PC HDD's or flash memory cards. FAT doesn't recognise the "." notation, which means "hide this file" in the *nix world.
