sharing telewest wireless package - whats the score ?
Mate has bought a telewest wireless package - been round today and they've given him:
- a netgear MR814v2tw wireless router - 1 port connects the the telewest tv box,
- a netgear wireless nic which plugs into his usb port and connects wirelessly to the netgear router mentioned above
think the "tw" suffix stands for TeleWest, so its been hacked iin some way that won't allow you to access it and change its settings (seems to be just a MR814 with different firmware)
anyone managed to hack it ?
incidentally, if I went and bought a standard netgear router to share telewest broadband - is THIS possible ?

Hello
Are you sure the firmware has been changed? I haven't seen anything about that. Just get another wireless card and you should be able to connect to it with another computer.
Steve.

looking around the net for info on this wireless router - its definitely been nobbled by Telewest to stop your pinging it, getting into the GUI, etc... Its had its DHCP turned off and is effectively now a wireless access point for the NIC
