Server 2003 RPC shutdown
I have recently reinstalled 2003 and experiencing the RPC shutdown problem. I previously installed SP1, but the patches for this problem will not install as they inform me that I have the most upto date version (SP1). I'm currently using the command shutdown -a to revoke the shutdown.
I'm rather concerned about this because SP1 is meant to have the exploit resolved. Anyone recommend a package to install.
Thanks
Mark

Sounds like you've got a virus on it. Typical MS Blaster symptoms, get onto to an AV vendor site for detection remove instructions. Personally I'd just rebuild it and patch it fully before reattaching it to what ever network you've got it on..

Cheers, have run the Norton Blaster detection and removal tool, nothing found. Looks like a little more investigation is required. I would prefer not to rebuild as I've just done that.

Well I ended up installing XP and switching on the firewall, maybe I should have turned the 2003 firewall on. I only use it for downloading utilities to test their reliability and usefulness.
