Norton Live Update Problem (2003)
For some reason I can't get Live Update to run anymore. Error code is LU 1814. I have tried connecting via NTL Broadband and also my back-up dial-up connection. I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software. The subscription is also paid up.
The only thing that I have listed as a cause is the installation of XP Service Pack 2 a few weeks ago.
Can anyone shed any light?
Cheers

After you start LiveUpdate, you see the message "LU1814: LiveUpdate could not retrieve the update list. LiveUpdate could not retrieve the catalog file of available Symantec™ product and component updates. Please verify that you are able to connect to the Internet and run LiveUpdate again."
loads of ideas on that link

Live update took forever (effectively starting again from scratch), but now all seems to be working OK
Good Luck

Tony, I have this same problem and after weeks of trying I have given up. Norton assistance is pants and they said it was down to my music card (sound blaster audigy) .My problems started after downloading service pack 2, sometimes it works fine and the soundcard has run fine with norton since it was installed. I have now downloaded avg7 from grisoft.com has a back up.

Just managed to get it sorted - You have to remove all associated programs in a specific order.
I am using my original version of Live Update at the moment as it is working and I don't want to risk throwing it out of synch.
Thanks for your help russell et al
Cheers
