Help somebody please!!

I always play CD's/sound files/movies off net on my computer but am trying to watch a normal DVD on it and can't get any sound

Anybody got any ideas?

Volume, speakers turned on etc. etc
That's about as technical as i go

I was waiting for that to come up yes the speakers are switched on with volume up and mute is not on

Maybe the dvd you are trying to watch only has a DTS soundtrack ? does your PC setup support this ?....its only a guess like, i had a similar problem once. Is it an original DVD film, the reason i ask is that some pirate films have the some soundtracks stripped out to make room for the actual film.

yes it's an original DVD, if thats the case how do I update the PC to run it can it be done?
