Default Laptop Monitor.

My girlfriends laptop monitor has just given up the ghost fortunatly it only looks like the back light has died. Does anyone know if it is at all possible to repair yourself. Or roughly how much it would cost to get it repaired.

What model, make is it?

I recently had a Toshiba Satellite fixed, total bill was £500 but that was for a whole screen though.

OOh not good, it would be just as cheap to get a new laptop with a better spec. Any not so much a problem now as it looked like a sticky switch, where the screen folds down as it`s now ok. But thanks for that now know it`s not worth getting it replaced cheers.

I would not say its not worth getting replaced if it does turnout to be the Back light. I don't know the spec but Back lights are easy to swap out, whole screens are even easier but they cost.

If i does go again, look at the price of new laptops (see here) and then you can decide what you think. Some places do free estimates, whilst some charge set fees of around £100 for a full service.
