Excel 2000 - how to change AutoCorrect list?
As title.
Spellcheck language is set to UK English.
However, Autocorrect is set to Portuguese, and there doesn't seem to be any option to change it. So every time I type "an", it changes to "na". Driving me nuts!
Anyone please kindly tell me where I change this setting?
Thanks!

Tools --> Autocorrect ( might be auto correct options if xp / 2003 office )
Look at the check boxes ... should be in there

Is there some Portugese connection with your pc/office software?
You could always edit the auto correct options in Tools, Auto correct options - or just turn it off?

Right, if there's no simple answer I'm off to see work's HelpDesk. Presumably it's centrally controlled. (Nick - I'm in an office in Portugal on a network, but the programs are individually configurable, I can set all my own auto-lists, spell checkers etc. Normally. It's just this one that is stubborn.) Will let you know.

Ok, here's the answer - it's automatically linked to Regional Settings and my keyboard, which is Portuguese. And the IT group policy does not allow them to give us manual control. Someone else has already made the same complaint regarding powerpoint. IT are not happy that they can't change it, and have made protests up the line to be allowed to (the joys of working in the public sector). So I'll wait.
...and wait....

C'mon guys, it's not that bad - I'm expecting it to be resolved either side of Christmas, from what I was told. Won't go into details, but I understand that IT's protests are not only of the hapless pleading sort.

Well, there I am, typing in Excel and getting annoyed by the auto-change, couldn't work out how to change the language, so I thought I'd google it.
Look what comes up as a fourth result? My own query from 8 years ago!
"I'm expecting it to be resolved either side of Christmas"
Clearly the war will be over by Christmas...
