In case anyone is dreading having to re-install and updating that Steam malarkey, I've just discovered that it is possible to backup the files and restore from there. If you didn't know about it and like the idea, go here for a guide.
Incidentally, at that site, you can also d/load the buy script compatible with source and a script which renames all the weapons as they used to be

or you can just hit the backup button from the right click > properties menu on the select game screen

I know, I really missed playing without it and it really is an advantage letting you get out first. Put them on last night, went for a game and kicked some serious ****!

It's even easier to do buyscripts in Source as you don't have to muck about with aliases. Just open up the config.cfg file (with notepad) located in :

C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\yourmail@address\counter-strike source\cstrike\cfg

and bind whatever keys to whatever weapon eg. bind "F1" "buy vest; buy mp5; buy primammo" will buy kevlar, mp5 and full ammo. The weapon names are all as per the original CS, so the CV-47 is ak47, etc.

I also found this handy Buy script generator which gives you the commands to cut and paste into your config.cfg file
