All my customers used to use McAfee, they now use Panda. You can try it out here: http://www.pandasoftware.com/download/

Incorrect

McAfee Enterprise v8.0i is buggy & crashes on shutdown. Every customer I have used McAfee & now every customer uses Panda. McAfee didn't seem to give a damn about the crashes. I'll agree however that Norton is a pile of er.. mess.

Do you have the crappy Enterprise version, or the home version?

I'm looking to change away from McAfee now.

I've got the latest home version (Internet security package with the firewall, anti-spam and privacy stuff).

The anti-spam simply doesn't work. The privacy service was causing me so many problems that I've uninstalled it, and in the last week, the virus realtime protection stuff has let through 3 separate virus infections, (which I've had to clean up by hand afterwards by doing full system scans etc).

Anyone recommend an alternative. I'm tempted to go back to Norton as I never had any problems with that (just switched to McAfee because of the good reports it got on here), but am willing to try another if works well...

Cheers,
Iain

Iain

I'd recommend that you consider Panda software (http://www.pandasoftware.co.uk/). The anti virus engine is good & also very efficient, so it doesn't slow down your pc as much as McAfee. I wouldn't suggest you go to Norton....

v7.0 was fine, it's v8.0 which hangs on shutdown.

Nick,

not sure what versions i had but privacy is just a pointless programme imo and Spamkiller is next to useless, the 'recover' option option doesn't work at all and the emails disappear altogether

Virus has been fine though,no probs

Says the person who works for McAfee and reads a thread with a comment aimed towards encouraging theft from my employers and collegues. What should I do, laugh?
