Is it possible to split domain based email away to a different host, so that www.somedomain.co.uk is on host A and mail.somedomain.co.uk (anyname@somedomain.co.uk) on host B?

Just change the host in the MX record in your DNS to point to where you want the mail to go.

Or if you can't change the MX records, you could get host A to accept all email for mail.somedomain.co.uk and then it to host B.

It's about 5000% more work to rehost than it is to change DNS
