Looks OK to me, but I've not had an Intel chip for a few years now. I have the same PSU (cos it was a cheap alternative to my Enermax one) and it seems to run fine. Don't think there's anything up with my Enermax one but I was troubleshooting and couldn't be arsed to put it back in after fixing the problem I had

Best thing to do would be to stick a search into google (searching the google groups is a good idea too). Do a search for the motherboard model, the chip, and the word problem. Should turn up a few BBS postings and the like of other people's problems (if they've had any) with the same setup so could give you an idea of what you might be letting yourself in for.

On the face of it though, looks OK to me. Asus tend to be one of the better makes of mobo so you should at least have a good backbone to the system Other stuff should be straightforward (fan, CPU, PSU) so shouldn't give you any issues.

Nothing wrong with Asus boards, but I'd get one with an Intel chipset, not the SiS chipset that board has.

Another vote for an Intel based board. IMO, the SIS chipsets don't offer the stability and performance of the Intel. The only non-Intel chipset I'd use with a P4 is the ATI Radeon.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/MSI.html - the 865PE for £50.50+VAT is a better buy IMO.

Another fiver will get you a stick of Crucial PC3200 DDR. Again IMO, Crucial is excellent quality value memory. If you went for 2 x 256MB sticks to make the 512, the MSI 865 board supports Dual Channel which improves performance.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatal...alue_Kits.html - 512MB kit for £59+VAT.

Also SiS chipsets need extra drivers that you have to download and install (and keep updated etc), whereas Intel chipsets just use the M$ ones.
