i need help!!!
i've just installed windows xp pro and eveything works fine, which is a surprise since i did it! but i've encountered a little problem when i'm on the net
when i try to open a new window (if i'm looking at a pic from the members gallery or something) i just get a new white page, nothing loads. it used to load as many pages as i wanted, one on top of another but now i have to drag the other page to the address bar to open it!!!
someone please help a computer thicko (i only know where the on button is!)
any help would be great, ta

Sounds like something's screwed up - unfortunately there is no 'stop being screwed up' setting. If you've got XP I'd suggest you reinstall Service Pack 2.
Or copy and paste this to your address bar:
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.o...up%201.0PR.exe

probabily
have you tryed logging in as a different user? (just to get www up)
I trust you are running an up-to-date antivirus as your not patched or you will be entering a world of virus hell.

Can you download SP 2 from windowsupdate.microsoft.com. If you're worried about doing that because you have a hokey copy of XP, you need to install Firefox.

i tried downloading sp1 but it was going to take about 8 hours!!!
i left it to work overnight but after about 2 hours it gave up (told me that i'd lost the server?)
a mate says he's probably got sp1 somewhere at home so i'm going to try to install it from him (if that's possible?)
my anti-virus software doesn't work aswell!!! (it's really going well since i installed xp!)

looked at installing sp2, it's gonna take 11 hours!!!
there's someone selling sp2 on ebay for about £3 inc p+p, might be an easier way of getting it?

is there any way that i can install it?
i only wanted to do all this so i could connect my mobile to my pc!!!
if there isn't an easy way out of all this i think i'll go back to windows98 and try to install sp2 there (if i can?)
the thing that's really doing my head in now is when i try to open a pic or link in a new window it's just blank, i have to drag it to the address bar and then it doesn't always work

£300 will get you a pretty good machine if you build it your self less of a machine if you go to pcworld et al
You'll not get an OS though, you'll still need to buy XP Pro/Home
