Default CISSP or SSCP. Worth doing?

Has anyone seen any advantage by doing one of these certifications?

One word: Yes

I shall be doing mine (CISSP) in November. In the UK I think there are only about 1000 people who have it. It seems to be well thought of and is one of the few industry recognised qualifications for IT security consultancy. It certainly adds to your salary and opens up a lot of opportunities in the security consultancy industry.

Fair bit of work, but well worth it IMHO. If you haven't already, get hold of the CISSP study guide by Shon Harris.

Cheers
Chris

yep, definately worth doing. A friend of mine recently passed his CISSP and he is getting far more government contracts because of the cert.
