Adventure game, which one?
Hi, all you gamers, I've never really got on with games that need incredible thumb speed
:, so fighting, driving, skateboarding etc just bore me.
What I'm looking for is a decision making game, with the minimum of thumb dexterity needed.
Something along the lines of the old gaming BOOKS, but in the computer age.
Does it exist? If so, what does anyone recommend?
TIA

For the PC I'd recommend Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (if you like Star Wars), you have quite a choice at certain points in the game especially with dialogue which makes for great reply value but it basically comes down to taking the light side path
or the dark side path
, great story aswell however game does involve quite a bit of real time fighting (like clicking which characters attack which enemies with whatever attack).

Be quick with it though as KOTOR2 comes out end of the year
I've heard good things about Fable on the xbox, not sure if it's on the PC. Not too sure what it is yet but it's role playing/good or bad char/you decide type game.

Does it exist? Hell, yes! Do a search on 'Interactive Fiction' and download yourself a copy of Frotz, the Inform virtual machine emulator. Then you can choose from the huge range of free games available for download (look for the Interactive Fiction Archive or one of its numerous mirrors).
No graphics at all - maybe a little ASCII art if you're lucky, but I've whiled away many an hour trying to solve fiendishly difficult puzzles in these games. Most have a walkthrough available if you get stuck.
My favourites so far are 'Christminster' (which reminds me of my university days!) and 'Theatre', which is harder but which gets downright creepy later on in the game.

The God-like Morrowind. Completely open, and never ends. Hard to get started but well worth perseverance.
Available for PC and XBOX only - get the Game-of-the-Year edition either way.
Following from AndyC's comments there is also Nethack. Fifteen years old, ASCII graphics, no co-ordination required (if you don't move it doesn't) but insanely complicated! Remember: the Dev Team Thought of Everything....

I used to love the old Infocom games. You can play Hitchhikers here too

I really liked Shadow of the Comet back in the VGA days, based on Lovecraftian mythos. Can't go wrong with Monkey Island games if you also want some humour and devious puzzles
