Default Anyone ever had this before ? Windows98 email...

Basically..

No matter what email client you use in windows 98, it will just not send out email to any smtp server address you put in.

I have even installed a local smtp server (tried different ports), and configured the email client (outlook, outlook express, thunderbird), and it will just not connect to it using the smtp, when trying to send.

Getting really annoying!

I thought it might have been a virus, but done a full scan and nothing has come up, have checked lmhhosts just encase..... have tried different mail clients, and it is all just not sending out.

Have tried the same settings on another machine, works fine, just not on this! I am tempted just to rebuild it, but was hoping someone else might have came accross this problem!!

Sorry, never seen that.

Have you tried using Telnet to try connecting from the Windows 98 PC to a remote SMTP port?
