MS Exchange
Hi,
trying to install MS Exchange trial version to see if its of any use to us
However, excuse the stupidity : Does it offer a facility where it can download all email from another server - eg. my ISP's server and then disstribute it within the organisation ?
Or do I have to get my ISP to amend the MX record to my IP address ? And it this is the case do I need to change my firewall settings for this, ie. letting a specific port thru ?
Any answers or links to web tutorials welcome
Thanks, Jai

Yes,
You create an SMTP connector for Internet mail (create an SMTP address space for all mail outwith your internal domain) and then you can schedule when the connector is used if you use a dial-up connection or just want to download mail at certain times.
You then configure ETRN under the connectors options. This will trigger the download of queued mail from your ISP's mail server.

Exchange 2000 POP3 connector is only so you can connect to an Exchange Server with a POP3 client, like Eudora, Outlook Express etc
Exchange 2000 Small Business Server comes with a POP3 connector to connect to an ISP's server using POP3
There used to be some 3rd party POP3 connectors, but its been a while since I used those

exchange is bloated and unwieldy and unfriendly! you may want to look at something much simpler and easier which will meet your needs such as vpop.
