Smile LCD Panel TV-opinions needed

As part of the renovation of our cottage we are seriously considering getting a LCD Panel TV and mounting it up on the wall in order to save space in the room. Unfortunately none of our friends have an LCD so I wondered if anyone out there has one and what they think of them ? Has it been wall mounted ? Any installation problems in linking to other electronics ( CD/video etc ) ? Any reliability issues ? Any recommendations or ones to avoid ?

Just hit the keyboard and let me know, even pm if you don't want to go public .

Thanks

Been looking into this myself recently as I wanted a large screen without it taking up the entire room. After seeing many demos of several different makes and models, I decided to buy a plasma screen instead. I found the LCD screens looked nice on static and slow moving images, but even the most expensive ones couldn't keep up with fast moving video (such as a camera panning during a football match for example).

LCDs are catching up with plasmas, but they're not there yet IMO. Note this only applies to the larger screens. You don't say what size you were looking for?

Ooops, no I forgot to mention size- we are looking at the smaller versions ie around the 20-22" versions.
Thanks

Seriously.

Consider this:
wall mountable
20" widescreen
sharp, bright display
Integrated DVD/CD player/MP3 player/server
5.1 sound
Hard Drive video recorder/DVD recorder
Also a very, very good computer.

£1,400 including Bluetooth and Wireless Keyboard/Mouse and Wireless Networking.

We have a 20" Sharp Aquos...extremly good bedroom TV..stick it in the wall, switch it on and away you go. Ours is 4:3, which is a bit odd these days though...
Sharp generally considered amongst the best LCD's

How do you watch the TV on that then angrynorth?

I agree that the sharp aquos range generally seem to get good reviews...

Have a look on http://www.avforums.com as there is a lot of info about this sort of stuff on there....

This one looks quite nice....

Fair enough, but that adds at least another 160 quid onto the original 1400 you quoted. Makes it expensive if you're just using it for tv / dvd etc.

It does seem a little expensive, I admit. But it is a very good option and as there is no budget I thought I would suggest it.

Besides, how cool would it be to have a wall mounted iMac, acting as an MP3/Movie/DVD/TV centre in the front room. You could download tracks/movies for play straight away, use it as a PVR. It would be mind blowing to have that all in one unit on the wall as a main TV. It could even act as a picture frame showing all your digital photos...

PS I've got an Aquos and they are grrreat
