laptop power supply prob, is it safe to use another

Default laptop power supply prob, is it safe to use another
Just bought a laptop and had to return to have power supply replaced but had to order it, now i have a laptop without power and not yet been switched on, tempted to use my power for the scanner, the orig power is 20v and the scanner one is 24v!!
safe, or will it fry it?

I wouldn't risk it on a new laptop.....wait for the proper power supply.
