I'm currently with hotmail, but seem to lose a few messages + it doesn't let you receive excel attachments. What free or very cheap web based email do you recommend?

there are tons and tons of free web-based email. just do a search on web. google, yahoo and lycos are doing free emails.

but if you want an email with your own domain/name, have a look at www.hostplus.co.uk
