Default Motherboard Compatibility

I chose to uprade my DFI Lanparty Kt400a, with XP2600 to a DFI NF2 Ultra with a XP3200.....

I researched and understood that the NF2 Ultra board would accept a 400Mhz CPU.

I've put everything together, but the system will NOT take the XP3200..?!?!?!?!

I have tried everything.....

On install the board recognises the CPU as an XP 1900....

The Speed defaults to 100mhz (It has a jumper and I have set it correctly for 'any CPU')

I have upt the mhz in the bios, but it will ONLY take a 182mhz....

Taken the lot back to the local shop and they have tried a few different xp3200's in it, but it still defaults to XP1900...

They tried an XP 3000 in it and tha was fine......

They did say the latest batch of XP3200 have not been as good as previous ones... (in general)

This MB shuold recognise the XP 3200 from the off.....

I really want the DFI board!! as I was VERY happy with the Kt400a....

They are still looking into what the can do and will be chasing suppliers for option.... (I'm pretty safe with them...)

IF it is the case that the board and the XP3200 are incompatible....what are my options for the 'best motherboard' for a simialr amount??

£100

Anyone sucessfully running a XP 3200 in a DFI NF2 Ultra..... would Like to hear from you!!

Cheers

Phil

DFI reckon it should work.

Have you flashed the BIOS?

I haven't flashed the bios, coz when I run 'Radarsync' ( a program supplied with the board to let you know when you need updates) and it says I am uptodate!!???

Sounds like a multiplier problem, check its all set right in the bios.

Failing that, buy an Asus

ALL the bios settings are set to 'optimal'

It is defaulting to 100mhz....

It should recognise it as a 200mhz cpu....

They'll have to try another motherboard........

What a Asus that is similar/better than the NF 2 Ultra???

I'm a bit wet behind the ears ...........

Follow the links for your board from here:

http://www.dfi.com.tw/Product/produc...cket+A&SITE=US

Grab the latest BIOS listed and flash it anyway.

AFAIK no board correctly recognises a 200MHz bus CPU as having a 200MHz bus. The reasons are complicated and linked to the bridges on the chip. You will have to set the CPU up manually.
