Angry OK, what's this bugger then?

http://master.mx-targeting.com/mx/servlet/MXTarget?adcontext=http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/newreply.php&contextpeak=0&contextcount=0&countryc odein=PT&lastAdTime=0|0|0|0|0|1094766261|0|0|0|&la stAdCode=6&cookie1=lflshdt%3D1094289904%26capdated y%3D0909%26capdate%3D0917%26lstlogdt%3D20040909%26 capcntdy%3D4%26cntp%3Dcable%26capcnt%3D2%26&cookie 2=fs

It's on my clipboard. I don't copy anything, just paste, and this appears.

Is this the blasted thing that slows down my connection, and keeps giving me a pop-up to some stupid Portuguese furniture store? Or every now and then when I open a new page you can see along the bottom bar that something opens, then closes again. I keep wiping stuff out with Ad-Aware, and it keeps coming back.

Any suggestions?

Well, I don't fancy copy/pasting it into my browser to find out!

Try Spybot S&D or Webroot SpySweeper.

it tells you how to delete the dll on the link I gave above.

1. Start (typically, the button in the bottom left of your screen)
2. Choose SETTINGS
3. Choose CONTROL PANEL
4. Choose ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS
5. Select mxtarget
6. Click on ADD/REMOVE

Also go to http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html & download the free Adaware SE v1.04. Regularly running this software will remove all tracking cookies & Spyware. There is also a paid version (Adaware SE Plus $26.95) at http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adawareplus/ which includes a TSR called Adwatch which stops tracking cookies & spyware from getting on your pc in the first place.

Ta Nick, but as I said, I already have Ad-Aware (the free one) and yes it is up to date! Hence the confusion. Maybe you're right, I have to cough up for the version with the blocker.
