wait for the 6800 ultra or get the x800 xt
Ordered a beast of a pc about a month ago from mesh computers.
Nvidia have their fists up their ***** regarding supply and demand so i have to wait another 4-6 weeks for the ultra.
Have been offered the ati x800 xt ready to ship out.
Is there much difference in performance/benchmarks.
Should i change?
Need to play doom 3 now!!!!!

If you read around a bit, here for example, you will see that Nvidia and Ati excel in different games and different settings. Like most things, there is not one card that will beat the others hands down at everything. On paper, it looks like the Nvidia card has it for Doom III, not necessarily for other games.
A colleague just bought a 6800GT, but has RMAd it having only had it 4 days and it didn't work properly from first installation. He was getting graphic glitches and artifacts all over the screen from the bios screen onwards. I tried it on mine (with a beefy enermax PSU) and had the same problem. Seems the manufacturing quality of the Nvidia cards has been called into question by some people. Have a read around the subject and find out the problems people are having with each make of card and then make your mind up. Nothing worse than ordering a new GPU, waiting for it to arrive, fitting it and then finding it's got compatibility issues or it's just pooped.
