Radeon 9800 pro
Hi Everybody!
Here's a strange one....
Working through various tabs and windows of my graphics card settings (to see if I can adjust clock speed and if temperature is monitored), I came across a menu about the AGP setting.
There is a slider going from "OFF" to 4x and then 8X
Mine is set to off. "That's odd" I thinks and sets it to 8x (since this is supposed to be an 8x card). The computer says it has to reset and test the new settings and will keep them if they are OK.
So it does this but resets the slider to off when it comes back up.
My graphics card a Sapphire Radeon 9800 pro and appears to be functioning correctly and performing in line with my expectations.
So why is AGP set to off and why doesn't it matter?
Cheers

Do you have an ASUS MB by any chance...?
I've had exactly the same issue with a Sapphire 9500 Pro, the only way I could get any AGP configured was to use old ATI Catalyst drivers (I'm currently getting 4x with no issues and better performance).
If you do change, remember to uninstall the old Catalysts first....

Hi Everybody!
I only evey played counterstrike for about a month - far too much creeping around for me. I'm more of a team fortress man.
Thanks for advice on mobo settings. Yes it is an asus. I shall look into it
The weird thing is, I don't think it actually matters where the slider is - performance at 3dmark03 is still in the 5500 region which is what it should be for my components.
Cheers

Check your motherboard actually supports 8x AGP, as this may be the reason its resetting. Then check the BIOS settings for AGP. Also if you want to add a tab to the Raddy's properties to let you overclock, download Rad Clocker
