Default Difference between CF cards and SD cards

Does anyone know of any performance issues with these types of cards and their use in a pocket pc, which of these cards are best for speed.

CF is physically bigger and more versatile than SD. It can be faster (there are different speeds available) and cheaper (for a given capacity) too. You can even get mini harddisks in a CF card. Capacities for CF are well beyond 1GB (I've heard of a 12GB CF card)

Exactly that, size and size and speed. SD cars are about the size of a simm card, they get used in phones and PDA's alot, due to their size, but they're more fragile, and mostly slower.

Depends what you need it for...

I do digital photography, and I used compact flash with USB2 reader...

Well at the moment i have a 1GB ibm microdrive, i presume this chews alot more battery than CF or SD or does it, the only reason i ask is that i want t free up the CF slot and use a CF GPS card and use the SD slot for memory, when i'm using the PDA for GPS.

An alternative is to use a bluetooth version, but not sure about how good these are.

Well I know a few people that use SD and they have no complaints, might be a bit slower, but in the grand scheme of things, PC's used to come with 1-4gig hard-drives just a few short years ago, now you can get it on a card the size of a stamp - so can't really complain. Sure you'll be fine, be sure to look around though, prices vary alot - you can get it really cheap now, but some people still try and flog it for more. eBay is quite deceptive for that...
