You don't need any drivers for a CDWRITER to be recognised in windows.

You will however need software for burning cd's.

E.G. Nero.

Windows XP can do it but its ****.

The cumputer has a BIOS chip which recognises thedrive before windows is even loaded to memory - that is where the detection is done.

if you're deperate for the drivers you should be able to download them from the manufacturers website.

Remember the above is a WIndows definition.

If you want to boot them using DOS or any command line interface - use a bootable disk with the manufacturers driver on it and a batch file that loads the driver into memory.
