Virus Help Needed - W32/Netsky.p.eml!exe
Hi
I'm needing some help from any virus experts out there...
On my home system, (only a few months old from Dell) I have McAfee Security Centre installed and the latest virus defs, however I keep getting a popup box appear saying that a Virus has been detected and cleaned - a temp file infected by "W32/Netsky.p.eml.
If I click the full system scan option it finds nothing, however the pop up warning box continues to pop up every few minutes or so.
Tried Mcafee support and they were pretty hopeless to be honest
even there website has very few details on this virus.
Any ideas ?
cheers

Totally guessing here but:
The .eml. part of the virus name suggests that the virus is part of an email - I would hazzard that the virus is somewhere in your mailbox if you are using something like outlook express. Outlook stores all the mail as 1 large file and so I guess that it is detecting the virus as part of that large file but not able to isolate it. I would check your email and delete anything that looks suspect in your folders and then empty the email recycle bin.

It's a 'Feature' of our product at the moment. What's happening is we're detecting the virus as the email arrives and repairing/deleting the offending code. This prompts the standard dialoge box suggesting you scan all files, of course it's already been dealt with. The answer is not to do the full scan. Trust me this is a personal bugbear of mine and will be fixed. As a subscription customer you'll recieve the updates as soon as its ready, currently sheduled for the end of this month.
Anything else I can help with just ask.
