New PC or fix old one
Currently have a Parkard Bell PC, P4 1.5 that requires a new Mobo and power supply.
Should I jest replace what is broke or get a new PC?
Not sure I can be bothered with this PC lark any more, I just want one that works!
Any deal, anyone selling one?
I dont want a new system, as I have everything I need....I dont need a monitor, keyboards HD graphics card as I have them!

As soon as you mentioned Packard Bell I had the answer - get a new one - and please don't go to PC World again.
Give Mesh a ring - they do awesome bits of kit at a good price (A listing with several pc mags)
Many others will give you their fave p.c.'s but none will mention PB (I hope!)

I gotta PB 1.5. Had it 2 years and works perfectly. Nothings broken (touch wood). Cheap too as it was a 'managers special' from pcworld. About £200 less than book as it was missing manuals and speakers. I wire it to my stereo anyway and I know a fair bit about computing so I only find faults with the manuals

2) Knocking £200 off the price meant it was only about £100 too expensive for what you got.

Well I managed to get an extra HDD in OK, got a DVD and CD drive + floppy. Still got plenty of expansion slots in the back etc. and no shortage of usb ports.
2 years ago the PC was about £600 which was cheaper than most the competition so why should I have paid more for the same? After all, mine is still working.
Yeah, I know a fair bit about computING (like many people know a lot about cars and how they work but doesn't mean they have to know whether an Astra 1.8L has air/con or not). I develop software, not hardware. I know enought to diagnose any faults but as long as it has an up-to-date motherboard, plenty of ram, a decent chip, a good size HDD and a decent graphics card then what does it matter who puts it together as long as it works?
As far as PC pants are concerned, I'm no great fan but if they have a product I want to my spec and price then they're no worse than anyone else + when I bought my PC, they were just around the corner

What's it like and how are the noise levels? Quieter than a 'normal' size PC?
