Upgrade windows 98 to SE
This is driving me mad.
And don't day buy a new pc either !!
Ive installed a PCI USB card in my machine and can't get the USB stuff to work, webcam and flash drive. Anyway the card went in ok, but the PC guys at work say I need to upgrade to SE for it to work
So I gets a SE disc and it won't load as the machine tells me I just need an upgrade disc and not the full version.
So where can I get one from dirt cheap or can someone on here lend me a copy, give me a copy, burn me a copy or sell me a copy ???
Helllllppppppp!!!!

If it says use an "upgrade version" then why not just reformat/partition your drive so everything is deleted off it and do a fresh install from scratch? (I prefer to do it that way anyway)
Seeing your asking for "goldish-blue" discs I take it the version you have is too So ensure that it will boot off the CD before you try anything (insert CD, turn off then back on). which will take to windows setup automatically, some badly made copies won't boot, if that's the case you'll have to create a startup disc with all the basic tools on (fdisk, format etc.).

Simon,
Thanks I would appreciate a copy.
I don't want to reformat as everything I have is SCSI, which complicates things even more. Can you email me and I will let you know my address.
Much appreciate mate

does the pci usb card comes with drivers? i think there's a patch from microsoft for windows 98 to use usb. check out what chipset your pci usb is (could be nec or via?) and goto their website and look for drivers for windows 98.

As mush as I hate M$, I think you should try XP. It's a bloody good OS.
Mind you i Wouldn't run it on a machine with less than 512 meg.
I have win98se if you need it. It's not a bootable version tho.

Win98 SE is fine with USB, you may need to download the lastest service pack though to sort glitches with CD burners and USB hard drives. After using XP, 2000, ME, 95, 98 and 98 SE. 98SE is the best and most reliable one to go for on an older computer, followed by 2000. XP gives me far too many headaches at work (too resource hungry), which is why I still prefer 2000.
In fact, I will be re-installing 98SE on my home sytem on a second boot drive so I can use all my old games again
