Any Pervasive SQL experts out there?
We have a customer using Pervasive SQL in a server/client system, unfortunately it's the only one we have so I'm not too familiar with the product.
The system comprises of an NT4 server running Pervasive with a Btrieve SQL database. There are about 5/6 clients on various platforms that access this (NT/Win2k & XP). Their IT dept has recently changed the group policies for users trying to access the server, since they've done this they can no longer access the database remotely. They have since changed this lot back and they still cant access the database
We can actually access the location of the database manually and open the files in notepad.
We believe we've narrowed the problem down to the fact that the Pervasive Transactional Service and the Pervasive Relational Service are not being started on the server. If you try to manually start the services it kicks up an Access Denied message with error code 0005.
Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.

My guess is that the accounts the services are using to log-on as are not the correct ones.
The 'old' accounts may have been deleted, and 'new' accounts created with the same name. Although it looks to be using the correct account, it is actually referencing a different account altogether.
Try changing the log-on properties for the services to a different account, then changing it back to the account you actually want to use.

Ok, going on what you've said we've managed to get the services to start on the server by changing the account used to log them on. But are still unable to access the database from any of the clients

Actually it's sorted now. After a reboot the services started automatically (since changing the account on them) and the clients now have access to the database again.
Many Thanks
