Hi,
last night I got home and my desktop wouldnt power up.
I tried replacing the fuse in the plug but alas to no avail.
I had the cover off and looked for anything obvious like disconnected cables, gave it a blow through but still nothing.
any ideas before it goes through the office window?

When you push the power button do you get anything at all?

Fans spinning etc?

Are there any lights on your motherboard to indicate it has power?

Try swapping the power lead over with your monitor and see if that helps

If the answer to both of those is no then it soulds like a new PSU is needed.

If you have a basic PC then a cheapie from www.ebuyer.co.uk should see you right. That would be the first thing on my replace list.

If you have a branded machine (like compaq or dell) they often use bespoke PSU's which may have to be sourced from them directly. If in doubt take a pic of one and stick it up.

check that the power button is making contact with the microswitch inside the case.
