Default Getting Laptop IR port to work?

I am trying to get my mobile phone (Sony Ericsson T630) to talk to my laptop (Dell Latitiude C840 running Windows 2000)

The IR port didn't figure in hardware to start with so I ran the install wizard. It now knows about the port but "windows cannot determine the settings for this device" It suggests setting up manually, but I'm a bit lost now...

Any ideas gratefully received!

Try using "Windows Update" as the place to find the best driver (not CD/floppy etc)

Also, check in the BIOS that IR is ENABLED as its not that popular a method of communication & a lot of lappys have it disabled by default!!

If you still have probs - check the Dell site for BIOS & Driver Updates. If you find a newer BIOSr, make sure you follow the instructions carefully. Dell latitude update is fairly straightforward but not something you eant to screw up.

Sometimes the drivers are installed ok, but IR is just disabled.
In control panel , go into IR properties to check if enabled

Thanks guys.

It was disabled in the bios. Seems to be enabled now but the phone software still can't see it - do I need to re-install it?
