Default Software to do business accounts?

Is there any good software out there that can handle the basic business accounts?

My dad has just started his own business and wants me to sort him out with something that can deal with his invoices/purchase orders etc.

Don't want nothing too complicated as I am no accountant, just be handy to have something that can handle it all in one go rather than using separate excel spreadsheets. Or is that the better way to do it, use Excel?

Yea I had a slightly older version of sage that I found but seems a bit complicated to me and for what we want to it has allot of unnecessary things in it.

Will see if I can "find" some of the other mentioned software
