Question How do I get Word to open a scanned domcument?

Been trying to do it for the past hour and I just can't quite get it to open how I want it.
Basically I've scanned an order form and want to open it in Word so I can produce a template that will enable me to type out order forms and run them through the printer instead of hand writing them.
I'm nealry getting there but it seems I'm missing a trick or two.

erm....Help?

I thank you...

Is the document just a scanned image (TIF, JPG, GIF) or is it an OCR file?

Yeah it's just a scanned image. Haven't tried it as an OCR file.

Depending on version, it'll be something like:

Insert > Image > From File

Then just put borderless text boxes over the top of the image to fill in the form.

as what dunk says, I did one for an electrical test certificate. I found it easier in the first instance to leave the borders on the text boxes with no fill - so you can see them.

when all the text boxes are in place group them all together ( press CTRL + left click) to select all the text boxes, then right click on one of the boxes and select "group"

once they are all grouped you can then click "no line" to lose the borders, then select the grouped boxes, press CTRL + left click on the image to select the image, and then grou[p the image and the text boxes together - this locks the whole lot together so you don't move any boxes by mistake.

a bit long winded but it seems to work!
