Hello

Apparently, certain Xbox's have a special cd drive. Called a samsung drive? Its quite rare so ive been told. How can you tell if youve got a special cd drive on ya Xbox? Lol hope you understood me and someone knows what im on about

Take the top off the xbox and look at the sticker.

there are no stickers, i think.

certain websirtes have got pics of the drawer tray, so you dont have to take it to bits.

i'll see if i can find out

The Thompson was the worst of the bunch, the Samsung is by far, the best one. You can identify that drive by, when ejecting the tray, if there are TWO HOLES in the tray (like mine), you have a Samsung. The first ones out, the trays are solid, as are the Philips drives.

There are stickers on top of all the different dvd drves.

The Samsung drive has two cut outs at the front of the tray, the other two(Thompson, Phillips) do not.

Whether the Samsung is actually 'special' is just a matter of opinion and media(I assume this is about burning cds/dvds)

I could tell you more, but then microsoft would make me disappear in the middle of the night for exposing their secrets

Whats so special about the samsung drive? Is it worth more would you say?

Even if you have a samsung its no guarantee it will play cdr's etc.

The Samsung will play more media brands as well as *more* CD-R's than the Philips or Thompson drives. But in reality it makes sod all difference. Nothing wrong the the Thompson or Philips units.

Having said that, if you put it on ebay, you'll get a fair packet for it . . .

Mines got a philips and it reads feek all, bloody thing. Gona get me a samsung off e-bay. Thank god for FTP or else i'd be snookered.

well i will be selling my xbox very soon
just on its own, 1 controller and fully boxed, and the samsung drive

Any offers yet?

Cool, mine looks like the one in the picture - so thats definitely the 'better' Samsung drive then?
