As someone who indirectly works for FT (they are our parent company), I would love to defend them, but I can't It's not the first time, they've had a less than stella effect on a company they've taken over. Read a few analysts views of what has happened to Orange since FT got their hands on them. Not pretty.

I went with Pipex. Cound not fault their service. Was told that connection would be in 10 days and that I would get an e-mail confirming the date within 7 days. Got the mail the next day with connection scheduled for 4 days later. Was connected that morning.
After hearing lots about Freeserver (the way their dial-up connection embedded it's self in the OS and was impossible to remove), plus my complete dislike for their adverts (like watching lots of loser hippies is going to make you want to use them ) I stayed well away, what ever their price...

Haven't had a problem so far with Wannadoo here. Only been with them under a month so it may all change.
Can't be any worse than Virgin. Took them 4 months to set up the DDM, they were supposed to take £100 and took £150 out of my account, they refunded one £25 and I'm now fighting for my other £25 and I've spent nearly an hour on the phone and at the end of the conversation the answer was the same.

Interesting to hear this about Wanadoo - I was thinking about moving over from BT who have so far been excellent. It was purely on price I was going to move, but I tried NTL as they were cheaper than BT but the service was shocking and I ditched them asap.

How come they need 10 days to switch it on anyhow????
When the Telewest guy came to install my broadband it was up and running there and then. And *touch wood* i've had no major faults with it in nearly 3 years so i've never called customer services.

If you are on Wanadoo and you find some websites do not exist, it is their DNS server which is very very bad and cannot resolve certain types of configuration. Once you are online adjust your IP configuration to use another DNS server. i.e pipex

I've been with Wanadoo broadband here in the Netherlands for the last 3 years, first for Cable Internet and now ADSL (1.1mbs for 24 quid a month). Nothing wrong with their customer service or product reliability over here. Must be the quality of local employees in the uk... (flame suit on)
