Thanks Jack

Enterprise 7.1 hasn't been out long, why the version jump? I'm not sure that corporates need even more firewalls..?

Nick, 7.1 was an update to version 7 which had been out quite a while, our aquisition of two IPS companys has allowed us to include great new technology that on it's own warrants a new version, other enhancements make this version well worth the jump. Desktop firewalls should be used along with gateway firewalls. One rouge machine on the network can cause a whole lot of trouble internally.

Give it a go aqua, let us know how it compares, that's what the beta's for.

Hi Jack

I had problems with v7.1, so my systems (& all my customers) are running on v7.0 right now. All my corporate systems have hardware firewalls, then software firewalls on the server, then client firewalls. Adding another 4th firewall is bound to cause problems somewhere. Some time ago, I tested the McAfee consumer firewall for my "home" users & it was very hard to use, so I now install Zone Alarm for home users & single users.

I'll have a go with v8 over the next few days.

Would be good to get feedback. The answer is not to use one of the firewalls. This version is the smallest footprint yet.

The consumer firewall has now been updated to a 'my mum can use it' version that's performing well both in usability and protection on millions of machines. Trials version are available if you're interested.
