Feckin MySeachnow toolbar sh!te
Before i smash the hell out of this machine would someone be good enough to give me the manual removal instructions for this parasite?
I've had this before on a pc and managed to remove it after a bit of faffing around. This time however i simply can't shift it. The usual ad/spyware removal programmes arent working and i cant seem to find anything definative for taking it manually from the registry.
Any help you can offer with this would be greatly appreciated.
PS. i got the ****** whilst installing Messnger plus update. In my usual 'can't be arsed to read anything' style i must have accepted the agreement for it
Thanks
Chris

Cong, its this one http://www.lop.com
Of course their removal tool can't actually be downloaded.... some crud pops up about security settings.
Can anyone else dowload the tool?... was doing a bit of reading about this earlier, apparently it writes over 40 registry entries

That's the search bar that installs itself when you install Messenger Plus.
Make sure, when you're installing Messenger Plus, to REFUSE the sponsor program (the screen just after the End-User Licence Agreement)
To get rid, just uninstall Messenger Plus, then reinstall (refusing the sponsor this time )

Okay.. i thought it had gone, but this morning the feckin thing is still there. Burr im going to try your suggestion next.
Pumpkin, the link for the removal tool wont work for me, its saying i dont have sufficient security rights to access it. Thought it could be a firewall setting at work, but im getting the same message when im at home. If you have it i would be very greatful if you could mail me a copy of the tool

Steve.. thanks mate, sent you PM
Chaps ive tried all the above mentioned removal tools, all appear to work but the damn thing is still there after a reboot
Burrs suggestion is looking good so far, removed mesenger plus this morning and reinstalled it without the free advertising software
Must pay more attention to what im agreeing to in future.

Boot in safe mode (F8) then,
Search ProgFiles/MySoft folder, and delete the whole folder, the Mysoft.DLL is causing you the problem.
SpyBot/Adaware don't remove this file yet.

I had a similar problem with mine. I tried spybot, adaware etc. Non removed the offending browser toolbar.
Only option was to partition the hard drive and reload windows and everything else on. Drastic i'm afraid, but it worked and its not as hard as it sounds to do. Just back everything up before you start. Its good practice to wipe everything off and start again every 6 months. The amount of crap you collect from surfing is unbelievable. And you will probably gain a nice speed increase once the system is cleaned up.

I do agree with you about collecting crap though and you almost always get a definate speed increase following a reinstall

Agree it can be done in Regedit, but as you obviously know, you can totally screw you're entire system up if you don't do it correctly. Regedit is powerful, but only in the hands of the experienced. At least with my suggested way you are backing up as well, which is always a good thing. And its almost foolproof
