Win2000 bootup problem
One of the pcs in the office will not boot up - and as usual no-one can find the emergency disk...
It stops when trying to run the "system" file from system32/config.
Repair from the original CD doesn't work without the emergency disk, so the only option is a re-setup of Windows...
Is there any way we can create another emergency disk from another PC? Tried this once, but the PC with the problem rejected it...
If we do a full install of windows 2000 again, will the whole pc have to be reconfigured, or does it just overwrite the current version and pick up from where it was left, so to speak?

Duck,
quickest option is to boot to the win2000 cd, then run a repair install, this will keep all your files/programs/registry settings etc, will just fill in any blanks and repair any corrupt files.

Cheers - have reinstalled - that effectively overwrote the OS, and then we had to get all the latest patches from the net. Seems almost back to normal, except for the pc speaker keeps sounding now for alerts, and haven't as yet found a way of silencing it!
