Laptop freezing / locking up
My laptop has pretty much always done this but it has never really bothered me but it seems to have become more frequent at the moment.
It seems to happen when the cpu is under a lot of load, or/and the room temperature is quite warm. I can be happily surfing away or flicking between applications and the screen will literally freeze in one position and require a hard reboot in order to get sort it out
It also seems to happen more when the laptop is on the bed or on my lap so im guessing its some sort of overheating issue although i can hear the fan on almost all the time.
Does anybody have any ideas regarding the cause?
Cheers
David

It sounds like you could do with some hard disc cleaning/repair software, mine does it every now and again, i run "fix- it utilities" and its behaves again for a few more months! You could try defragmenting your registery but i doubt it would sort it, worth a try as its free tho. Have you got any spy software on it? Somtimes a machine can pick up so much ****e on the net that install themselves on ya hard drive without you seeing or knowing about it. Spy Hunter is a top bit of software which gets rid of all the bugs which literally spy on you and can slow down your machine.
Anyway, hope that is of some help!

I first thought this was a software problem or spyware or something but after several complete reboots and re-installs im not so convinced and its bugging me a bit now!

Check where the cooling fan draws air from and exits.. lots of lappies take air from underneath and ,of-course if you sit the laptop on a bed or sofa etc it blocks the vent..
