Default EBAY - need help (potential scam)

I'm posting for a mate who's found himself potentially in a "spot of bother" <frank spencer mode OFF>

He's had his EBay logon/password comandeered and somebody has won an auction on a £50,000 car in his name

I know he's genuine (hasn't even taken any driving lessons!!)

The seller has been in touch enquiring how he's gonna pay - needless to say, my poor mate was a little shocked at receiving a phone call at work from the seller. Especially as he wouldn't give out such information (he'd give out his mobile, for example)

Does anybody know where my mate stands with EBay (he's complained to them straight away)

Is it serious, or at worst a negative feedback on his profile?

MY mate thinks that it may be a "friend" who he's fallen out with and it a malicious prank.....

Thoughts?

CHeers,

Dan

I had thought of them, but you really think it's that serious? (not joking either )

I'd have thought that at worst, Ebay, would give him a negative feedback (if it all goes t1ts up)

Surely Ebay could track the IP addy of the bidding PC and sort it that way......

I would imagine EBay would take this very seriously and will fully investigate it including IP lookups (if they can).

If this person has his EBay password then they might have some other ones too. I would report it to the Police and let them decide how serious it is!!
