server 2003 CALS - Question
trying to work out the number of cals i need for a server etc,
will use the server for authentication , but apart from that it will be a file server no applications,
storage will be users data and email locations
do i need a cal for each user who get authenticated on the network or just for people who will use it as a file server ?
thanks

All of our servers came OS free, so unless you've spent the extra money and specified a certain install type yours will too.
Ours are all set as per seat with individual CAL's for clients. Pro's and con's for both types.

One quick copy and paste:
Yes, a user who uses the server for authentication will need a CAL, even if they don't then use the server for anything else.
If it's Windows Server 2003, don't forget you also have the choice of Per User / Per Device or Per Server.
