Red face Default printer and Windows 2000

if we have 10 user profiles on a pc. There are 3 printers installed on the pc 1 of which is default

we install a new printer and set it not to become the new default printer, on this profile it works fine

when we log on to any other profile the default printer becomes a random printer out of the 4

AHHHHHHH please help or I will we be at work till the morning

Cheers guys

( if it was one pc it would not be a problem.... its over 3000 )

Default

The default printer is defined per user (i.e. per profile). Are you using local profiles only or roaming?

local.. I ve just got home, found a utillity that lets you change the default printer via a script, I ve used this in a group policy logon script

only problem being I will have to name all the printers the same

cant understand why something that sounds so simple ended up being so hard

any more ways round this would be useful....... that could have been a very long weekend
