for some reason, my task bar and icon tray have dissappeared ! They return if I put my cursor at the bottom of the screen, but as soon as I move they're gone again, and I've got a wierd grey bar at the top now

I'm running win XP pro and I've checked the task bar options so it dosn't auto hide.

Anyone ??

Sounds like remote desktop.

Right click on the task bar and select properties, see if auto-hide the task bar is checked.

Have u dragged the taskbar down so that its only a couple of mm in height? Move your mouse slowly down over the top edge of that grey bar u mention, and hopefully u will see the up n down resize cursor, click and drag up to get your taskbar back.

non of the above was the problem, but after a reboot all seems well again.
