Default Brain dead Excel Question

Can I perform a check on the contents of a cell, and if the result is true extract part of the contents from that cell to a new cell, and if false copy the entire cell to a new one?

Example, A1 contains ABC123 and A2 contains 456. I want just the numeric part of the cells, so B1 needs to contain 123, B2 456 etc.

Assume I need to use the IF function, but unsure how to tell it to ignore the letters and only work with the numbers.

Thanks

If the numeric component is conistent i.e. last 3 then you can use

=VALUE(RIGHT(A1,3))

etc
