I have a microsoft mouse with wheel

Last week the wheel stopped working, and every once in a while, it goes a bit loopy, and I cant click on anything, and all my programs that are running go haywire (like the mouse is doing its own thing) after a minute or so this stops

Anyway the wheel hasnt been working until just this minute, its started working again

Any ideas (running XP, and its been fine for years)

You'll have a slightly sticking wheel. If you half roll it sometime sticks on the little switch inside causing everyhitng to scroll up and down really quickly.

A simple quick roll and click of the wheel often clears it, but a clean would be better. However, I haven't worked out how to clean the wheel without taking the whole thing apart.
