I have been using this on Exchange 2000 and it works very well. Also if you are using Network Associates Groupshield antivirus version 6.0 (latest version) you can set a disclaimer text in there too.

Ah, never knew that. We're running 5.2 sp1, but due an upgrade soon.
The GFI only allows one domain disclaimer in the free version, but we need disclaimers for 3 seperate domain names.

If you fancy a bit of scripting, MS have a "how to add a disclaimer to outgoing SMTP mail" in a Q article (http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;317680). Then create seperate event sinks for each domain.

We don't need the disclaimers to be individual for the seperate domains, we just need them to be added to every outgoing SMTP message regardless of the domain name.
When I installed the GFI product, it forces you to create a disclaimer for each domain and that's not what we want. Since they give you an eval version, it only supports one disclaimer after 60-days.
If GroupShield 6.0 only allows one disclaimer, then that would do the job.
We've a few VB developers here, so I'm sure I can get some help if I get stuck with the scripting. It's an option if management do want individual disclaimers.
Thanks again,
Stefan

A bit of a naive question, but why hasn't Microsoft added this function into the std Exchange 2003 server product ?? seems ridiculous to me

Do they have some deal with 3rd-parties?

Just had a look, at first glance it seems that you can set a disclaimer text for each Groupshield 6.0 policy. I havn't played around with the new policy feature because I am using the same settings for everyone, but you can set up policies (separate settings) against things such as whether the sender is in a specific active directory group etc. so you probably could do individual disclaimers if you had to.
